Kanhai Chitrakar, the synonym for the resplendent art was awarded the prestigious PADMASHRI in 2000 by the PRESIDENT OF INDIA. The award recognized his efforts of reviving the charm of the withered tradition of gold paintings. Krishn Kanhai, retracing the footsteps of his father, too was honoured with the PADMASHRI in 2004 by the PRESIDENT OF INDIA for his artistic achievement. Continuing the legacy of winning appreciation, Krishn and Govind Kanhai, working together to glorify the escalate golden art, received the coveted “ACHIEVER OF THE MILLENNIUM AWARD” in the year 1999.
